The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts has contracted two companies
to complete repairs and building projects this summer. Precision Construction
and Roofing will replace the museum’s iconic roof, which was damaged in a
2020 hailstorm. The repairs will begin on July 10 and are expected to last
several weeks before interior repairs get underway. During this time, the
museum’s main office will be relocated to Studio Rio at 423 S. Oakes Street
and exhibitions will continue in the adjacent Coop Gallery and Gallery Verde
The Education Studio and Concho Clay Studio will not be impacted. During
construction, the museum’s collection will be temporarily placed in an offsite
collection storage facility housed in the Ralph Chase State Office Building.
Premiere Re-Builders is performing necessary modifications to the space
which will eventually house the museum’s visible collection storage and
conservation laboratory. For more information about SAMFA, go to samfa.org.
