City Manager Daniel Valenzuela gave city leaders a one-year notice of his retirement at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. Valenzuela announced his intention to retire effective Oct. 31, 2026. “With the assistance of a recruiting firm, City Council will soon begin the search for Valenzuela’s successor,” officials said in the media release. “Details about the recruitment process and transition plan will be announced at an upcoming council meeting.” Valenzuela has served as city manager since 2012, overseeing over a decade of growth, improvements and community development, including big capital projects, strategic planning initiatives and a focus on fiscal responsibility, officials said. Mayor Tom Thompson praised Valenzuela.
