The title track of Kiss's eighth album, “Love Gun” reached Number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Singer-guitarist Paul Stanley said, “'Love Gun' stands out for me as one of the best songs I have ever written. I still get a chill up my spine when I hear this song.”
Stanley wrote the song while on a flight to Japan, even though he had no guitar on the plane. After returning to New York, he booked time at Electric Lady Studios and recorded a demo and played all the bass and guitar parts.
He proudly noted that the demo version “is virtually indistinguishable and identical to what the band wound up doing.”
The Love Gun album was Kiss's highest charting effort to that point, reaching Number Four on the Billboard 200.
