Multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd confirmed his departure from the Flaming Lips after over three decades with the band. Drozd accidentally disclosed the news this week on Threads when asked if he was “officially done” with the group. “They’re done with me — but we’re not talking about it. So yes, I’m moving on. Just keep it to yourself for now. Ok?” Drozd replied before deleting the post. He later acknowledged the mistake, writing “What do you call it when a Gen Xer makes a Boomer mistake? That’s what I did yesterday here on threads lol.” Drozd’s final performance appears to be October 12, 2024, at Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms, California. The band has since toured with guitarist A.J. Slaughter. Drozd joined the Flaming Lips in 1991, contributing drums, guitar, keyboards, bass, and songwriting throughout his tenure. (Story URL)
