Thousands of Verizon customers across West Texas temporarily lost wireless service Tuesday because of a fiber cut. Customers in San Angelo, Midland, Odessa, and Amarillo reported phones stuck in “SOS Only” mode with no calls, texts, or data service. Verizon says engineers worked to restore the outage after problems peaked Tuesday evening. More than 2‑thousand users reported issues at the height of the disruption. The company apologized for the inconvenience but did not provide a repair timeline. Service was gradually being restored late Tuesday.
