Rainbow trout season is officially underway in San Angelo as Texas Parks & Wildlife stocked the Oakes Street Neighborhood Fishin’ site this week. The release is part of a statewide effort that will place more than 335,000 trout in Texas waters between now and early March. Officials say the program is meant to make fishing fun and accessible for both families and seasoned anglers. The Oakes Street site will receive additional stockings in December, January, and February, giving locals multiple chances to reel in fresh trout. Anglers can keep up to five fish per day, and TPWD suggests bringing ice, since trout don’t survive long once Texas temperatures warm up.
