A San Angelo mixed martial arts fighter has captured his first championship belt. Nineteen-year-old Budah “Bam Bam” Schakde, a recent Grape Creek High School graduate who trains with Angelo MMA, won the STX Fight League bantamweight title Saturday night in Brownsville. Schakde defeated Osbaldo Puente by technical knockout just 47 seconds into the first round after landing a head kick. The victory improves his amateur record to 3-and-1 and marks his third straight win. Schakde says the championship is proof that his hard work and sacrifices have paid off.
