Texas DPS has released additional details about last week’s officer-involved shooting in San Angelo that left a suspect dead and a state trooper wounded. Investigators say the trooper stopped a pickup truck for a seatbelt violation when the driver immediately got out and opened fire. The trooper was shot in the foot but returned fire as the suspect continued advancing while shooting. Both were taken to Shannon Medical Center, where the suspect later died. The trooper underwent surgery and is recovering. The suspect’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
