Angelo State University has received a $500,000 gift from an anonymous donor to establish a new endowed engineering professorship. The David L. Hirschfeld Professorship in Engineering will support faculty research, curriculum development, and student professional growth. University leaders say the funding will help attract and retain top engineering faculty while strengthening academic programs. The engineering department currently offers accredited civil and mechanical engineering degrees and has seen enrollment growth in recent years. Officials say the gift will help support future expansion and workforce development efforts. The endowment is expected to benefit engineering students for years to come.
