San Angelo Animal Services has temporarily suspended dog‑walking activities at the shelter after reports that abandoned dogs were involved in deadly attacks on cats nearby. Officials say they were notified May 9 that two, possibly three dogs had been left outside the shelter. Staff worked throughout the weekend to try to safely contain the animals. On Monday, Animal Services learned the dogs were linked to several cat deaths in the surrounding area. Shelter officials say the safety of animals, staff, volunteers, and the community comes first. Dog walking will resume once the situation is resolved. Residents are thanked for their patience as officers continue working to secure the dogs.
